Description

Surrounded by the woods and by an immense private park full of centuries-old plants, this beautiful castle is located in an archaeological area, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site on 26 June 2011. Built as a military castle in the 12th century, it served as an outpost to protect the surrounding valley and countryside, and was subsequently abandoned after the destruction of the nearby village by the Visconti of Milan (a.d. 1287). The Castle, therefore lost its military vocation, was then used as a private residence of nobles and expanded over the centuries. Abandoned again during the Second World War, it was recovered and renovated by the current owner family but the castle still exudes a historic atmosphere, while its wonderful park full of centuries-old trees, designed by a famous landscape architect, offers a small oasis of peace and a large living space to relax surrounded by greenery. Its position is strategic, as it is located about 50 km from Milan, 30 km from Malpensa airport, and the closest towns on Lake Maggiore are just 30 km away. This has allowed the castle to be successfully used for events and banquets and as a charme relais today, and can therefore be an excellent investment in hospitality or become an exclusive private residence, surrounded by greenery but with all the services of big city at your fingertips.
